Insulation Facing Description

 

The Foil-Scrim-Kraft Vapor Barrier consists of a laminated composite structure that includes layers of foil, scrim, and kraft paper, each contributing specific properties to enhance the overall performance of the insulation system. The foil layer provides excellent reflective properties to reduce radiant heat transfer. It also acts as a vapor barrier, preventing moisture from passing through. The scrim layer is a reinforcing layer made of fiberglass or polyester mesh. This layer enhances the strength and durability of the vapor barrier, providing resistance to tearing and puncturing. The kraft paper layer serves as an additional moisture barrier and provides a surface for easy adhesion to insulation materials. It is often treated to improve its moisture resistance.

Foil-Scrim-Kraft Vapor Barrier R716A is a high-quality grade insulation facing with a 3-way scrim and 60gsm kraft. Its composite structure combines the advantages of foil, scrim, and kraft paper to improve energy efficiency, durability, and moisture management in insulation systems.

Foil-Scrim-Kraft Vapor Barrier Applications:

1. HVAC Ductwork: Used to wrap and seal ductwork, preventing condensation on the exterior of the ducts and maintaining the efficiency of the HVAC system.

2. Building Insulation: Used as a facing for fiberglass, mineral wool, and other types of insulation in walls, ceilings, and roofs to control moisture movement within building assemblies.

3. Metal Building Insulation: FSK vapor barriers are employed in metal building insulation applications to provide a protective layer against heat transfer, moisture infiltration, and condensation on metal surfaces.
